<p>A system and method for reducing the computational complexity of the coefficient bit modeler in a JPEG 2000 image coder. The coefficient modeler traverses a code block of quantized wavelet coefficinets and directs the arithmétic encoder how to encode a bit. By using the context of the bit by looking at the significant state of its neighbours, and storing them in a specific order, bit-wise operations and memory accesses can be reduced.</p> |
