PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive endoscope executing a regular observation and various types of specific observations using an existing light source device for a visible light; and an illumination cable. SOLUTION: This endoscope is characterized in having an insertion tube to be inserted into a subject part, an image-pickup means capturing the image of the subject part, an operation section executing various types of operations of the image-pickup device and the like, the illumination cable extending from the operation section, connected to the light source emitting a while illumination light and having a specific light conversion means converting the illumination light into a specific light, and illumination transmission members disposed in the illumination cable, the operation section and the insertion tube and transmitting the illumination light from the light source and the converted specific light.
