A method for producing an aluminum alloy composite material, which comprises the steps of providing an aluminum alloy core material comprising 0.01 to 1.0 mass % of Si, 0.1 to 2.0 mass % of Fe, 0.1 to 2.0 mass % of Cu, 0.5 to 2.0 mass % of Mn, 0.2 mass % or less (including 0 mass %) of Ti, and the balanced amount of Al and inevitable impurities, subjecting the core material to a homogenization treatment of holding it at 530ringC or higher for 15 hr or more, placing an Al-Si type brazing material on one or both sides of the core material, followed by a hot rolling and a cold rolling, subjecting the product to an intermediate annealing, to thereby completely recrystallize the core material, and imparting a strain of 1 to 10 % to the resulting material; and an aluminum alloy composite material produced by the method.
