A radio frequency (RF) signal transmitter is removably attached to the body of each crew person and a RF receiver is attached to a fixed area or a craft. The transmitter has two external contacts of a circuit which is closed, if the device is immersed in water, a microprocessor to control the functions of the device, and a clock to measure the time duration for which the contacts are closed. An Independent claim is also included for life-saving alarm device operation method.
