PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively obtain a multi-substituted diketone compound having a double bond between its carbonyl groups in a good yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the diketone compound (1) is characterized by comprising reacting a metallacyclopentadiene (2) with oxygen and then hydrolyzing the obtained reaction mixture with an acid.
