<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory for fireproof members for continuous steel casting which is low in thermal conductivity, excellent in dissolution resistance and spalling resistance, prevents oxides such as alumina or the like or metal from sticking on the working surface of the refractory during casting and can contribute to safety operation and improvement of steel quality. <P>SOLUTION: The refractory for fireproof members for continuous stell casting comprises, as a composition, 5 to 30 mass % of carbon, 20 to 50 mass % of SiO<SB>2</SB>component (however, excluding SiO<SB>2</SB>to be generated by oxidization of SiC), 20 to 50 mass % of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>component, the balance with other refractory components and impurities, and materials having a porosity of 15 to 25% and a bulk specific gravity of 1.5 to 2.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
