PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader with sheet-through type document feeder which is capable of reading an original by a simple structure without deteriorating correction accuracy. SOLUTION: In the original reader 1 with sheet-through type document feeder, originals 50 are fed by using a sheet-through document feeder 305, and image information read by a reading means 12 is converted into digital image data. The reader 1 is provided with a memory means 60 for reading one or more lines of an original-retainer surface 23 of the feeder 305 to store them as reference data before feeding the originals 50, a referring means 65 for receiving a plurality of lines of image data selected from among the digital image data as reference data to refer the received data with the reference data and determining a correction method, and a correcting means 67 for applying correction to the digital image data on the basis of the determined correction method.
