PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller with an energy saving mode which can prevent electric power from being wasted by automatically switching electronic equipment to the energy-saving mode when a user leaves the electronic equipment and does not use it. SOLUTION: The remote controller 1 has a remote control transmission part 3 atop and is provided with a power switch 4, an economical-mode switch 5, etc. The energy-saving mode is incorporated in the remote controller 1 to make it possible to set a high-voltage generation cutoff switch 8 of a television set 7 off. In the remote controller 1, a human sensor 10 is built in which senses whether a person is in front of the television set 7. According to whether a person is present or an elapsed time, a microcomputer part 9 sends various commands to the television set 7. Video and audio are both outputted within one minute after a person leaves the television set 7, but only audio is outputted one minute later.
