PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device capable of performing a signal recording operation to a disk on the basis of instruction signals outputted from host equipment. SOLUTION: In the optical disk recording and reproducing device constituted to perform the signal recording operation on the basis of the instruction signals outputted from the host equipment, by rotationally driving a motor 4 for pickup feed provided so as to drive an optical pickup 3 in the radial direction of the disk D, it is reported that the instruction signal outputted from the host equipment is erroneous.
