PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throttle opening detection device not requiring a throttle wire, capable of obtaining a rotational load of a throttle grip the same as conventional, and allowing a driver to operate the throttle grip without incongruity. SOLUTION: This detection device has a case 2 installed to a handle bar 3 of a vehicle; the throttle grip 1 installed to the tip side of the handle bar 3 from the case 2, rotatable to the handle bar 3; a hear mechanism housed in the case 2, and comprising a plurality of gears (a drive gear 5 and a detecting gear 7) for interlocking with the throttle grip 1; a throttle opening sensor 8 detecting a rotation angle of the detecting gear 7 in the gear mechanism; and a friction plate 11 abutting on the drive gear 5, and imparting friction force in an opposite direction to a rotational direction of the throttle grip 1.
