PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-beam light source device and a scanning optical device using the same, which enable a synchronous detection means to surely detect a laser luminous flux by precisely positioning relative positions of the synchronous detection means and an optical element. SOLUTION: With respect to the multi-beam light source device provided with a holder 9b for positioning and holding a semiconductor laser light source 9a and a collimator lens 9c, a circuit board 9d which is fixed to the holder 9b and has a driving control part for the semiconductor laser, and a synchronous detector 18 mounted on the circuit board 9d, the synchronous detector 18 has at least a part engaged with the holder 9b and is positioned and held thereby, and an optical element 17 for converging laser light on the synchronous detector 18 is provided in a position facing the synchronous detector 18 on the incidence side of the laser light, and the optical element 17 is positioned and held by engagement with the holder 9b.
