PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for processing a multi-threaded instruction through a clustered execution unit. SOLUTION: A cluster architecture of this application preferably includes capability for processing 'multi-threaded' instructions. Selectively, the architecture gains advantages by flexibly processing them by either (a) high-degree of parallelism (that is, in a throughput mode) or (b) a high degree of single threaded performance (that is, in the wide mode). In the wide mode, bundles of instructions in units of threads are distributed through a plurality of clusters 102 and 302.
