PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recyclable winding core for a wound body of coreless thermoplastic resin cord or a winding core easy for setting and superior in workability as a winding core in setting on a wound body filling reel of a packing machine and relieving repeated impact force in sudden stops of a reel while preventing a great deal of excess resin cord from being unwound by idling of the reel when the same is set in an automatic packing machine, and a method for using the same. SOLUTION: This winding core is composed of a cylindrical body 2 and an insert cylinder 3 to be inserted in the cylindrical body 2. The cylindrical body 2 has a cut out part 21 provided along a whole length in a longitudinal direction thereof and is expandable in the diameteric direction by elastic deformation thereof. An outer diameter dimension of the cylindrical body 2 is smaller than an inner diameter dimension of a hollow part 11 of a coreless wound body 1. When the insert cylinder 3 is inserted in the cylindrical body 2 after the cylindrical body 2 is inserted in the hollow part 11 of a wound body, the outer diameter dimension of the cylindrical body 2 is expanded larger than the inner diameter dimension of the hollow part 11 and an outer circumference surface of the cylindrical body 2 is pressed on an inner circumference surface of the hollow part 11 to function as a winding core.
