PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an excellent display whose viewing angle is effectively improved by improving a sensation of resolution and improving attractiveness by a conventional liquid crystal driving method of improving viewing angle characteristics of TN liquid crystal by controlling a voltage applied to liquid crystal. SOLUTION: Provided are an RGB independentγconverting circuit 1 which has a plurality ofγconverting circuits for obtaining desired V-T characteristics independently by R, G, and B, their switching circuit 2, a viewing angle adaptive control circuit 3 which performs modulation control overγby suitably controlling a plurality ofγdata settings and their switching pattern to improve viewing angle characteristics, and a liquid crystal panel 4; when an input signal is a moving picture and a source wherein a resolution sensation is important like a video signal, the pixel array and RGB luminance distribution of the liquid crystal panel are taken into consideration to perform control for performing modulation onγin the minimum pattern by regarding pixels of R, G, and B as one unit so as to obtain a modulation characteristic of, for example, RGB independently by pixels of R, G, and B or with only G out of phase for a pixel array of R, G, and B.
