PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a cyclic dicarbaldehyde in a high yield, comprising purifying the cyclic dicarbaldehyde by an extraction operation scarcely giving the effect of a thermal change. SOLUTION: This method for purifying the cyclic dicarbaldehyde is characterized by subjecting a cyclic monocarbaldehyde-cyclic dicarbaldehyde-containing mixture obtained by the hydroformylation of a cyclic diene compound to an extraction operation using an aprotic polar solvent-hydrocarbon solvent mixture as an extraction solvent, thereby separating the cyclic dicarbaldehyde from the cyclic monocarbaldehyde by the utilization of a difference between the distribution factors of both the solvents.
