PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength low-alloy steel, which can be used in as welded state by means of restraining cracking of a weld heat-affected zone without annealing it after welding. SOLUTION: The high-strength low-alloy steel which includes C, Ni, 0.15-0.40 Si, 0.20-0.40 wt.% Mn, 1.50-2.00 wt.% Cr, 0.40-0.60 wt.% Mo, 0.03 wt.% or less V, 0.020 wt.% or less P, 0.020 wt.% or less S, and unavoidable impurities, is characterized by containing C of 0.09-0.11 wt.% and Ni of 3.40-3.90 wt.%, having a carbon equivalent Ceq in a range of 0.62-0.84, which is shown by Ceq=(C+Mn/6+Si/24+Ni/40+Cr/5+Mo/4+V/14), and by being used in as welded state without being annealed after being welded. The alloy steel is also characterized by having Vickers hardness of 350-200 Hv in the heat affected zone after welding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
