PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eaves for surely shielding light undesirably entering into an indoor space without obstructing the ventilation. SOLUTION: An eaves body 5 is provided in an upper part of an opening part 4 such as a window and a door formed in an external wall 3 of a building 2 to prevent light heading for the opening part 4 at a large incident angle relative to the horizontal direction, from entering inside the building 2 via the opening part 4. The eaves body 5 is provided with a light shielding body 6 having a light shielding performance and a retainer means retaining the light shielding body 6. The light shielding body 6 is retained in either of a light shielding position projecting downward from a preset prescribed position of the eaves body 5 or a storage position stored in the eaves body 5 by a retainer means and displaceably provided in a state spaced a prescribed interval from the external wall. This constitution can secure the indoor ventilation and prevent the light heading for the opening part 4 from various directions from entering into the inside part via the opening part 4.
