<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly join not less than two kinds of connecting pipes having different diameters by a single structure without exchanging parts. <P>SOLUTION: In this mechanical joint, a slipping-off preventive member 5 preventing slipping off of an end portion 6a of a connecting pipe 6 by fastening a cap nut 2 to a joint main body 1 comprises: a cutting edge 5f inwardly projecting in a diametrical side neat an inner end surface 5h; a cylindrical inner surface 5d inwardly projecting in the diametrical direction neat an outer end surface 5g and abutting on an outer peripheral surface of the connecting pipe 6; and a notch portion 5e provided between the cylindrical inner surface 5d and the cutting edge 5f. When a pair of the connecting pipes 6 having large diameters, the cap nut 2 abuts on an outside position 5b in an axial direction of the outer peripheral surface 5a of the slipping-off preventive member 5, and the outer peripheral surface of the connecting pipe 6 is gripped by the cylindrical inner surface 5d of the slipping-off preventive member 5. When a pair of the connecting pipes 6 having small diameters, the cap nut 2 applies large diameter contracting force to the slipping-off preventive member 5 from the outer end surface 5g side to the inner end surface 5h side, thereby pressing the cutting edge 5f against the outer peripheral surface of the connecting pipe 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
