<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for managing data transmission, by using a regular credit count and a history credit count for each of many queues. <P>SOLUTION: When data is transmitted from a queue, a count is decreased, and the count is increased at given intervals in the case that the queue doesn't face backpressure which blocks transmission. When transmission from the queue is blocked, the history credit count is increased instead of the regular credit count. Consequently, the history credit count traces potential transmission opportunities which may be lost due to blocking of transmission from the queue. The history credit count is periodically polled instead of the regular credit count to give each queue an opportunity to catch up in its use of opportunities for transmission. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
