摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the accumulation degrees in crystal orientation by secondary recrystallization in the production of a mirror finished, grain oriented silicon steel sheet, and to improve the quality of a product. <P>SOLUTION: A silicon steel strip containing, by mass, 0.8 to 4.8% Si, 0.003 to 0.1% C, 0.012 to 0.05% acid soluble Al and &le;0.01% N is subjected to cold rolling and decarburizing annealing, and, after that, the steel strip is coated with a separation agent for annealing, and is subjected to finish annealing, so that a mirror-finished, grain oriented silicon steel sheet having a high magnetic flux density is produced. In the production method, the decarburizing annealing is performed in an atmosphere having an oxidation degree at which Fe based oxides are not formed to form an oxidized layer essentially consisting of silica on the surface of the steel sheet, and, after that, a separation agent for annealing essentially consisting of alumina is applied thereto.
