PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photosensitive member having a protective layer whose scratch resistance and wear resistance are improved, and which is prevented from peeling off and melt-sticking even in the case a photosensitive layer and the protective layer are formed on a small-diameter cylindrical support, and also, wherein the occurrence of noise such as a creak is prevented, and to provide a process cartridge and an electrophotographic apparatus equipped with the electrophotographic photosensitive member. SOLUTION: As for the electrophotographic photosensitive member constituted by forming a the photosensitive layer and the protecting layer on the cylindrical support whose outer diameter is <30 mm in this order, the difference|α<SB>1</SB>-α<SB>2</SB>|between a thermal expansion coefficient (α<SB>1</SB>) measured from the top of the protecting layer and the thermal expansion coefficient (α<SB>2</SB>) measured after removing the protecting layer is >5.0×10<SP>-7</SP>[°C<SP>-1</SP>] and <1.0×10<SP>-4</SP>[°C<SP>-1</SP>], and the modulus of elastic deformation (We%) measured from the top of the protecting layer is >30[%] and <60[%].
