PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative creation device creating alternatives easily understood by a user. SOLUTION: This alternative creation device selects a part of or all of clusters from data clustered into a hierarchy. When an information quantity of the central sentence increases more than the information of search elements in following the central sentence groups of the clusters from a parent cluster to a child cluster, the central sentence of the child cluster is set to an alternative or an alternative candidate of prescribed information. The relation between the search elements and the central sentence is calculated to narrow the clusters, thereby providing the alternatives with no omission. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
