<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce assembling man-hours by making it possible to form a small flange of a holding ring by utilizing press-fitting force of a cylindrical portion of the holding ring into a ball stud simultaneously with press-fitting work thereof in a ball joint in which the holding ring mounted with a boot is press-fitted into the ball stud. <P>SOLUTION: The ball stud 1 is formed with a press-fitting portion 3a into which the cylindrical potion 19a of the holding ring 19 is press-fitted and an annular projection 30 provided with a tapered-shaped surface 30a rising up with an upward gradient from a press-fitted end of the press-fitting portion 3a. When the cylindrical portion 19a is press-fitted into the press-fitting portion 3a, a specified cylindrical portion 19c formed in a point of the cylindrical portion 19a is pressed against the tapered-shaped surface 30 and is enlarged in diameter to form the small flange 19c. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
