PURPOSE: A method for deciding a position of a mobile terminal is provided to decide the position of the mobile terminal in a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) communication system without using a GPS(Global Positioning System). CONSTITUTION: A distance estimation system measures an RTD(Round Trip Delay) and a pilot phase of a PSMM(Pilot Strength Measurement Message)(412). The distance estimation system decides an existence range of a basic terminal(414). The distance estimation system calculates a distance between each terminal and BTSs(Base Transceiver Systems), using the measured RTD and pilot phase, and decides a range in which a terminal exists now by the distance between the BTSs and the terminal(416). The distance estimation system searches a pseudo point of the terminal(418). The distance estimation system corrects the RTD and the pilot phase of the PSMM in the pseudo point, using information about a radio wave delay and a pilot signal(420). The distance estimation system decides a position of the terminal, using the corrected RTD and pilot phase(422).
