PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented PEN film characterized by small deformation of the film at heating, good adhesion with a heat transfer ink layer when used in the heat transfer ribbon, a transfer image excellent in a gradation property, a good flatness, and excellent productivity with less breakage. SOLUTION: A biaxially oriented polyester film comprising a main component of polyethylene-2,6-naphtalate is characterized in that the biaxially oriented polyester film contains a quaternary phosphonium sulfonate having an ester- forming derivative of 0.1 to 40 mmol% with respect to a bifunctional carboxylic acid component and the molten biaxially oriented polyester film has an AC volume resistivity of 6×108Ω.cm or less. |
