The device has a motor and a generator coupled to the motor with normally conducting stator windings (3) commonly arranged on a superconducting pole wheel (1) winding. The windings of the motor and/or generator supplied with D.C. current are in the form of high temperature superconductor or HTSL windings and the motor's stator winding is displaced in the peripheral direction relative to the generator's stator winding (4).
