The firing mechanism for a firearm with a frame (1), a trigger guard (2) and a moving breech block (5), has a release lever (27) which is pivoted to the breech block or trigger guard and has one end interacting with a control lever (20). In one position the release lever engages with the control lever when the breech block stop (19) is in its locked position, and when pivoted into its second position the breech block stop is released.
