The invention relates to the use of hydroxyethers which can be obtained by decyclising olefin epoxides having 6 to 18 carbon atoms with alcohols having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and/or polyoles having 2 to 18 carbon atoms and 2 to 10 hydroxy groups or water. The inventive hydroxyethers can be used as oil bodies in cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations.
