摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi color image forming apparatus stably carrying out registration correction over a long period of time by prolonging the service life of a light emitting part while carrying out the registration correction at a high precision.

SOLUTION: In the multi color image forming apparatus provided with a registration correcting mechanism carrying out adjustment of color slippage in a multi color image formed on an image carrier, an optical system detecting means provided with the light emitting part and a light receiving part to detect a detection pattern for registration correction when correcting is contained in the correcting mechanism and a light emission control means to control the change over the light emitting part of the detecting means between a constant lighting method and a pulse lighting method is also contained.
