<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a diol adduct to a salicylic acid derivative metal salt which is used as an electron-accepting compound in a recording material using an electron-donating colorless dye and the electron- accepting compound and improves a color-developing property and the stability of color-developed images. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the diol adduct to the salicylic acid derivative metal salt comprises mixing the salicylic acid derivative metal salt represented by formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>are each identically or differently H, a halogen, an alkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, a cycloalkyl, an alkoxy, an acylamino, sulfonamido or hydroxy; Mtl is a divalent metal) with a diol compound represented by the formula (2): HO-X-OH (X is a divalent bonding group) in a solvent and recrystallizing the produced adduct in the solvent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
