PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently correct the optical scanning characteristic by the luminous flux deflection principle that a liquid crystal deflecting element of an optical scanner has, and to effectively prevent a ghost light from influencing the optical scanning. SOLUTION: The optical scanner which forms a light spot on a surface under scanning to optically scan it, has one or more liquid crystal deflecting element means 18 which are provided on optical paths extending from respective light sources to the surfaces to be scanned corresponding to the light sources and adjust the positions of light spots on the surfaces to be scanned in the vertical scanning direction or/and horizontal scanning directions, a control means which controls the liquid crystal deflecting element means, and a ghost light removing means 600 which generates normal optical scanning luminous flux and shields the surfaces to be scanned from luminous flux of such diffraction order that the light becomes ghost light of the normal optical scanning luminous flux.
