<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil device for an internal combustion engine which suppresses a corona discharge occurring between an earth body and a protector. <P>SOLUTION: This ignition coil device for the internal combustion engine includes at least a primary coil 3, a secondary coil 4, a center iron core 1 passing through an inner circumference of the primary coil 3 for magnetically coupling the primary coil 3 and the secondary coil 4, and a side iron core 2 passing through an outer circumference of the secondary coil 4, and transfers a high voltage generated in the secondary coil 4 to an ignition plug through a spring 6 in the protector structured of three parts of a rubber 10, an adapter 21, and a boots 11. The corona discharge generated between the earth body and the protector when the high voltage is generated is suppressed by restricting an outside dimension of the adapter 21, and degradation of the protector caused by the corona discharge is reduced so as to considerably prolong a life of the protector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
