PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plurality of, preferably at least 256, gray scale levels being distributed equally over the entire gray level range so that an increment between first and second gray levels corresponding to a continuous gray scale level provides quantization of gray level matching a minimum perceptible gray level difference. SOLUTION: In a print medium and the method and apparatus for printing an image on the print medium, the image has a super pixel composed of a combination of dots where each dot is controlled independently with regard to (1) the size of each dot, (2) the gray level of each dot, and (3) the overlapping part of at least two dots.
