A casting sand shake-out apparatus wherein vibration or impact is applied to the casting 120 fixed on a support member, the device comprising inclining means 156 for inclining the support member in a desired direction. Also a method and apparatus (figs 1 - 7) for removing sand from a casting by fixing the casting to a support member and hammering the casting while vibrating the support member wherein the vibration conveys sand which has been removed from the casting. Also a casting sand shake out apparatus (fig 9) comprising a casting support member, a hammer and/or vibrating means and a bar member for collapsing sand in an opening.
