PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for sheet material that suppresses a vibration of a pad holder caused when a sheet material passes a friction pad. SOLUTION: Turning shafts 4a projected from both ends of a lower portion of the pad holder 4 of the separator X are engaged in given base members 5, and thus the pad holder 4 is supported on the base members 5. The pad holder 4 has in both side portions abutting members 4d. The abutting members 4d are provided with an abutting portion 4f sectioned in arc form (curve part), and are arranged so that urging force of urging members 4e comprising a coil spring or the like abuts the abutting portions 4f against abutted portions 5a of the base members 5.
