1,127,984. Perchlorinated aromatic polyisocyanates. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORP. 29 June, 1966 [27 July, 1965], No. 29221/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Aromatic polyisocyanates are perchlorinated by reaction with Cl 2 in presence of an inert organic solvent of higher b.p. than the product. It is preferred to use a catalyst, e.g. FeCl 3 , AlCl 3 or SbCl 3 , and, as the solvent, a chlorinated biphenyl, terphenyl or naphthalene. Specified reactants are 1,3- and 1,4-phenylene diisocyanates; 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanates; 1 - trichloromethyl - 2,4 - phenylene diisocyanate, 4,41 - biphenylene diisocyanate, 4,4<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>11</SP>-tri. phenylmethane triisocyanate and 1,5-naphthylene diisocyanate. |
