PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of damping force during changeover of expansion and contraction, to give the stiffness to compression-side damping force in the medium speed range, and to enhance the degree of freedom of setting and changing of the compression-side damping force in a front fork for a motorcycle or the like. SOLUTION: In the front fork 10 for the motorcycle or the like, a partition wall member 50 to partition an oil sump chamber 28 vertically is provided at an upper part of a hollow pipe 22, a center hole 52A and a tensile pressure common use flow passage 54 are formed to the partition wall member 50, a flexible valve 60 in an inner periphery supporting state and a check valve 70 in an outer periphery supporting state are provided to the tensile pressure common use flow passage 54 so that parts of the outer periphery of the flexible valve 60 and the inner periphery of the check valve 70 are overlapped in an overlapped state, a first spring 64 to support the rear of the flexible valve 60 and a second spring 72 to support the rear of the check valve 70 are provided, and a fine gap 80 is provided to an overlapped part of the flexible valve 60 and the check valve 70.
