PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic flash apparatus applicable to a camera which performs photographing even if a light quantity is insufficient regardless of the photographing of a still picture or a moving picture. SOLUTION: The light emission method of an electronic flash 18 consisting of a xenon tube is switched with a changeover means 60 in accordance with the changeover of a movie/still picture changeover switch 78. The still picture is photographed by making the electronic flash 18 emit light for a short period under the control of a stroboscopic control circuit 54 in photographing the still picture, and the moving picture is photographed while making the electronic flash 18 continuously emit light at high frequency and high voltage generated by a high frequency/high voltage circuit 72.
