PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk playback apparatus capable of producing an accurate sub processing signal even in the case of performing repeat playback. SOLUTION: In the optical disk playback apparatus for playing back a recording medium 1 on which video data, a plurality of sub picture data related to the video data, and control data specifying a display period for each of the plurality of sub picture data are recorded, when receiving a repeat playback instruction for a designated period, the optical disk playback apparatus reads data configuring at least one sub picture unit from a point of time back to by a prescribed time from the repeat playback start point of time of the video data, stores the data into a storage section 51 and reproduces the stored data of the sub picture unit together with the video data.
