PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a look-up table, in which conversion errors after color conversion are influenced by input data as little as possible. SOLUTION: The number of gradations is for each color of an input value is reduced, in response to the color characteristic of a color space table. A memory address for storing an output value in the table is determined, by using the result of reduction of the input value in which the gradation number is reduced. A combination of input values, having the same result of reduction, is calculated. A representative input value is calculated from among the combination of input values, having the same calculated result of the reduction of the gradation number. A representative output value is calculated on the basis of the representative input value. The calculated representative output value is stored in the determined memory address of the table, and the table is created. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
