361,993. Liquid-fuel furnaces. JONES, J. W., 14, Findhorn Street, Poplar, London. Sept. 3, 1930, No. 26341. [Class 51 (i).] Regulable quantities of air in a preheated condition are supplied to spray burner 16 through a casing 2 secured by a ring 3 over an aperture in a plate 1 attached to the furnace front. The periphery of the casing is provided with air admission apertures 7 regulated by a rotatable sleeve 8 having corresponding apertures 9. Air entering through the apertures 7 is deflected towards the closed front end of the casing 2 by baffle-plates 15 and then passes into the furnace partly by way of perforations in tubular members 11, 12 and the open ends of such members and partly through the open end of the annular passage surrounding the tubular member 11. Helical air deflector blades 13, 14 are arranged within the casing. In passing over the baffle-plates and perforated tubular members 11, 12 the air becomes heated. Additional apertures 22 for the admission of air are provided in the plate 1 such apertures being provided with cover-plates. A rotatable screen plate 24 may be mounted on the front of the casing 2 to screen the operator from the glare of the furnace when the apertures 22 are open. |
