PURPOSE: A control method for an electronic thermostat is provided to achieve improved fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust gas, while maintaining a cooling efficiency at an optimum level. CONSTITUTION: A control method is characterized in that the volumetric change of the wax is caused by using an actuator in accordance with the control logic using the temperature of a coolant of an engine, to thereby allow the valve to variably open/shut within a predetermined temperature range. The control logic includes the first step of outputting the difference between the coolant temperature of the engine outlet side and the coolant temperature of the radiator outlet side; the second step of setting the basic temperature difference; the third step of outputting the difference between the difference output in the first step and the basic temperature difference set in the second step; the fourth step of outputting the current coolant temperature; and the fifth step of outputting a control signal for operating the thermostat and controlling operation of the thermostat through the actuator. |
