<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus which allows the life of a photoreceptor to be prolonged in comparison to a conventional one by adequately reducing deterioration of the photoreceptor even in the case of both-sided printing where vertical ruled lines that are the same in position on an original image are printed on the fronts and backs of transfer materials which are supplied consecutively. <P>SOLUTION: For printing on the surface of transfer paper supplied as a first sheet, a scanning start potion for data to be exposed is set to R1. For printing on the back of the transfer paper, the scanning start position is shifted by a predetermined number of dots in the main scanning direction M so as not overlap the main scanning direction used for an electrostatic latent image along the vertical ruled line, thereby setting a position R2. When printing is carried out on the front and back of transfer paper thereafter, the scanning start position is shifted to a position R3, a position R4... in the main scanning direction M. Also, while the scanning start position for printing on the surface is fixed at the position R1, only the scanning position for printing on the back may be moved to the position R2, position R3... each time transfer paper is supplied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
