COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communication equipment capable of efficiently determining the ECHONET address of a self-device.

SOLUTION: An ECHONET device C multicasts a packet for inquiring about an ECHONET address. ECHONET devices (A and B) that have received the packet wait as long as a waiting time obtained by multiplying the node ID of their own ECHONET address by a unit time and then notify the device C of their own node ID. The device C selects a node ID other than the notified node IDs. The device C multicasts a confirmation packet including the selected node ID. If there is no notification to the effect that the selected node ID is used in response to the confirmation packet, the device C determines the selected node ID as the node ID of an ECHONET address used by the self-device. If there is a notification, a different node ID is selected and the same procedure is repeated.
