PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve flexibility by attaining predetermined vibration control performance of a building and base isolation of a building without any increase in building cost. SOLUTION: In this vibration control device, a damper D is connected to a diagonal member T disposed in a rigid frame formed by posts P and beams B to improve aseismatic performance in the rigid frame. When the damper D generates damping force of a designated magnitude in a predetermined region, and in a region near a stroke end over the designated region, the damping force of designated magnitude is gradually decreased.
