<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that good recording characteristics are not obtained in high-speed recording. <P>SOLUTION: In the information recording system, when information is recorded with light from a light source on a recording medium having a recording layer undergoing reversible phase changes to a crystal phase and an amorphous phase, the light is emitted from the light source to obtain a waveform of a multipulse string constituted of heating pulses corresponding to mark data and cooling pulses equal in its number to the heating pulses, thereby forming recording marks on the recording layer. Each of the number of the heated pulses and cooled pulses is increased by one each time a mark data length is increased by 2 T, where T stands for a recording channel clock cycle. The pulse width of the last heating pulse of the multipulse string is set to 0.5 to 0.9 T, and the pulse width of the last cooling pulse is set to 0.7 to 1.3 T when 6-14 T marks are recorded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
