<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film transistor type liquid crystal display panel which has a wider field angle and a high contrast while color variation of half-tone display is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The thin film transistor type liquid crystal display panel has a hybrid alignment structure constituted by sandwiching a nematic liquid crystal layer 12 in twisted array between a thin film transistor substrate 4 and counter electrode substrate 10, arranging cross-Nicol polarizing plates 19a and 19b in rubbing directions of both the substrates, arranging a negative uniaxial liquid crystal optical film between the thin film transistor substrate 4 and the polarizing plate 19a on the substrate 4, and the counter electrode substrate 10 and the polarizing plate 19b on the substrate 10, and continuously varying and fixing a liquid crystal director of the liquid crystal film continuously from each substrate side to each polarizing plate side; and the liquid crystal alignment direction meets the rubbing direction of each substrate and relative film thickness steps are formed in a stack of colored layers of red, green and blue on a black matrix layer 6 and the colored layers to differently adjust the cell thicknesses of respective pixels of red, green and blue. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
