The permanently elastic strip is for use between building components, being wound into a coil together with an inert non-stretching intermediate strip. The sealing strip is mechanically compressed to reduce its thickness, and in the subsequent coiling operation it is only on the intermediate strip that a tension load is exerted. Alternatively where an intermediate strip is used less resistant to tension loads, the wound roll can be enclosed in material to prevent it expanding. Alternatively, the ends of the intermediate strip protruding past the sealing strip can be wound twice or three times round the coil and glued into place. |
