PURPOSE: A method for judging a charge status of a battery for an electric car is provided to calculate and improve a charge status of a battery installed at an electric car. CONSTITUTION: A high rate discharge current test is performed(ST21). A battery is discharged so that a battery voltage becomes a cut-off voltage(S22). The first cut-off capacity according to a high rate discharge is calculated(S23). A discharge capacity test according to a reference discharge current is performed(S24). When a discharge of the battery continues, the voltage of the battery becomes the cut-off voltage(S25). The second cut-off capacity is calculated when the voltage of the battery becomes the cut-off voltage(S26). The first cut-off capacity and the second cut-off capacity are summed to calculate a capacity according to a discharge current(S27).
