COMPOSITION CONTAINING FLAVONOID FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF GASTRITIS AND PEPTIC ULCER DISEASE

PURPOSE: A composition containing flavonoid such as fustin, fisetin or the like is provided. The composition exhibits antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori and thus can be used in prevention and treatment of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease caused by stress, alcohol or Helicobacter pylori infection. CONSTITUTION: The composition useful in the prophylaxis and in the treatment of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease contains 0.1 to 100% by weight of flavonoid. For an example, 100ml flavonoid is mixed with 100ml corn starch, 200ml lactose, 2ml magnesium stearate and then tabletted with a conventional method to make a tablet. The flavonoid contained in the composition exhibits antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori as causative bacteria of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease in a minimum inhibitory concentration of 62.5 to 1,000 microgram/ml.
